Wendy Leech

Wendy Leech was born on 30 November 1949 in Buckinghamshire, the daughter of celebrated stuntman and coordinator George Leech, and grew up immersed in the film industry before beginning her own stunt career in the mid-1970s. Across her career she doubled for some of cinema’s most recognisable leading ladies, including Margot Kidder, Karen Allen, Kate Capshaw and Michelle Yeoh.

Wendy’s genre credits are remarkable in their own right: she performed as the stunt double for C-3PO in the very first Star Wars film, in some of its most demanding sequences and also appears uncredited as U-3PO. She doubled for Margot Kidder as Lois Lane across the original Superman trilogy, and on the set of Superman II she met her future husband, fellow stunt performer Vic Armstrong, who was doubling for Christopher Reeve. Wendy went on to work across the Indiana Jones trilogy, Dune, Legend, and five James Bond films, notably becoming the only stunt performer ever to have “killed” James Bond on screen, in a training-exercise sequence in Never Say Never Again (1983).
