Tommy Knight

Tommy Knight was born on 22 January 1993 in Chatham, Kent, and began his career in West End theatre, appearing in productions including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Snowman and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Macbeth. He made his television debut in 2002 before going on to appear in Casualty, Doctors and The Bill.
Tommy is best known for playing Luke Smith, the genetically engineered adopted son of Sarah Jane Smith, across all five series of the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007–2011). He also crossed over into the parent show itself, for David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor’s series 4 two-part finale “The Stolen Earth”/”Journey’s End” and in “The End of Time, Part Two.” Tommy briefly reprised the role one final time for the touching 2020 webcast “Farewell, Sarah Jane,” made in tribute to the late Elisabeth Sladen.
