Gethin Anthony

Gethin Anthony was born on 9 October 1983 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, to Welsh parents, and studied English Literature at Balliol College, Oxford, where he served as President of the Oxford University Dramatic Society. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and received a scholarship to study at the British American Drama Academy, attending workshops with Fiona Shaw, Alan Rickman and Brian Cox.

Gethin is best known for playing Renly Baratheon, the charismatic and politically ambitious younger brother of King Robert, across the first two seasons of HBO’s epic fantasy series Game of Thrones. He went on to play Charles Manson in NBC’s Aquarius, and lent his voice to the science fiction video game Quantum Break as protagonist Jack Joyce, as well as Gil Brodie in Mass Effect: Andromeda. For Doctor Who fans, he has also voiced multiple characters for Big Finish Productions, including Sam Scott in the Gerry Anderson series Firestorm.
