Alastair Mackenzie

Alastair Mackenzie was born in Trinafour, Perthshire, Scotland in 1970 and trained as an actor after moving to London at the age of eighteen. He is perhaps best known to British audiences for playing the young laird Archie MacDonald in the long-running BBC drama Monarch of the Glen, a role which earned him the Best Couple in a Drama Series award at the BBC People’s Choice Awards in 2002. His other television work includes Borgen, Dracula, and The Crown.
More recently, Alastair has joined the Star Wars universe, playing Perrin Fertha — the charming but politically conflicted husband of Senator Mon Mothma — across both seasons of the critically acclaimed Disney+ series Andor (2022–2025). His brother is the noted Scottish film director David Mackenzie, with whom he co-founded Sigma Films.
